The new VivoBook S14 Comes Packed With 8th Gen Chips, NanoEdge Display

Asus is at it again with the VivoBook S14 (S410UA), packed with an 8th gen core CPU processor, ports galore, FHD NanoEdge display, and an ultra thin body. Anything else you need to know? First unveiled at IFA 2017 August of last year, the VivoBook S14 comes in three variants, including several options for CPUs, as well as an exclusive availability through Flipkart. Designed for folks on the go, this is another ultrathin notebook, very popular these days, and known for a relatively-sized chassis, as well an advanced display pane, thanks to Asus.

The Asus VivoBook S410 has a gorgeous metallic design in two fancy hues. Beyond its beauty, it’s also considered rugged, or strong enough to withstand a 20,000-cycle open-and-close hinge test, as well as high-altitude testing. This means it could withstand the altitude of up to 10,000 feet up, for an entire day. On top of these simulated tests, the new VivoBook S410 features a keyboard that is held in high regard, hitting a 10-million keystroke test. Whether or not those things are of interest to you as a consumer, remember it’s quite a newer concept for an ultrathin notebook, described as on-the-go, to sport serious hardware functionality and strength.

The 14-inch screen features a super-slim bezel, also known as NanoEdge display, which fits inside its true 13-inch chassis. All is packed into a 0.7-inch profile, and a total weight of 2.9 pounds. The advanced display, by the way, features FHD, anti-glare IPS LCD screen, also sporting Asus Splendid, and Tru2Life Video tech. Users will have fun with this, as it brings the opportunity for optimal viewing angles, a Vivid mode to enhance photos and other media, as well as Eye Care mode, to ease that blue light emission strain on the eyes.

Because of its 8th generation Intel Core processors, and gorgeous, NanoEdge display, I’d certainly entertain the idea of this being a “double whammy” in term of function. Getting into the nitty gritty details (good ones), the VivoBook S14 offers a base model, packed with 7th Gen Intel Core i3, as well as two other models, with either an 8th Gen Intel Core i5, or 8th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU. On top of that, the laptop features Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics. Whichever chip consumers desire, they still have more choices in the area of hard drive. Options of 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB SATA M.2 SSD, and also 1TB of HDD storage are all in your hands. Obviously, all of these specs are quite high-end. As far as the keyboard, which is backlit, add in a multi-touch supported touchpad, and fingerprint scanner, and accessibility should never be an issue here.

A couple more things, connectivity is nothing new, but luckily nothing truly missing. Included, are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2 USB 2.0s, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, an HDMI port, as well as both SD and SDXC memory on a 2-in-1 card reader. As far as OS, Windows 10 Home and Windows Hello are both supported, meaning a no-hassle log-in to save on time. Don’t worry about battery life either, the VivoBook S14 packs a 3-cell, lithium polymer battery for a solid 8 hours on one charge. First launched in India, all three iterations of the VivoBook S14 S410UA are already available on FlipKart, starting at $863.99 and up. Expected availability in the U.S. should begin next month.
