Gigabot 3D Printer

Have you folks heard about the biggest and latest 3D printer? The Gigabot, a 3D printer project by one of the newest start-up Austin based companies, re:3D. This Kickstarter project is developing an amazing, affordable, large format 3d printer for your home or office. It can make beautiful, large printed objects like you have never seen before.

The Gigabot was unveiled at Houston's Mini Maker Faire. The reason it became so popular so quickly was because its the first of its kind, with the ability to print 30 times the volume of a current desktop 3D printer! Our Parts-People President is one of the backers for the project, and we will be getting one by the end of the year!

One of re:3Ds visions is to “solve big problems by taking a bigger view”. With the opportunity to print larger projects, means we will be able to replace more expensively made items with plastic made ones! The project was originally designed for developing countries but now is a Kickstarter project for the whole world to be able to use! The company already has a global online marketplace due to their commitment to helping others. Part of their company's focus belongs to its social enterprise work, where they set out to create water collection barrels, composting toilets and things for agricultural use.
Designer of the project, Matthew Fiedler, has 15 years of experience in engineering, technology, and bio mechanics. He even worked at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas for 5 years, where he met one of his teammates, Samantha Snabes. The re:3D team has nearly 40 years of combined experience in manufacturing and engineering. They have always been heavily involved in design, product development, and all have entrepreneurial track records! Because of their dedication to community, interest in Kickstarter came naturally to them. Here at Parts-People we are happy to be a part of the efforts and cannot wait for our Gigabot to join our team! We will be keeping everyone up to date on it's arrival.
