E11 – Texting & Driving, Largest 3D Printer, Escaping Cable Companies: Red-Headed Geek Show

They say you learn something new everyday. I learned that studies are suggesting adults text more than teens while driving. These statistics result from the amount of people who admit to texting while driving. I wonder if adults admit more than teens, or if it is just actual truth. If you think about it, adults live a very busy life, always on the go, always needing to be connected. It could very well be true that adults are on their phone in the car more. Despite what the truth is, we all know that texting and driving is not safe. So lets not do it, K?

Speaking of living in this day and age, everything is easier to connect to, isn’t it? Entertainment is especially easy to stream from multiple sources. From your phone to your television, possibilities are endless. This is probably why the percentage of people who pay for cable and satellite television are on the decline. With the ability to stream movies and shows to our computers, we don’t necessarily need cable anymore. People who use Netflix, Hulu and other services instead of cable are called cord-cutters. Personally, I think once a person gets used to relying on the internet for their entertainment, they wont miss channel surfing.

Finally, a local Austin based company, called re3D, has introduced their massive invention. The gigabot, a 3D printer capable of printing larger objects than never before. I am especially excited not only for the company but for us because Parts-People president, Nathan Morgan, has decided to back the project. This means once available, Parts-People will be getting a gigabot! That not only means we will be able to print large items, but I will be able to show it to you in action on camera! That means you must stay tuned! See you next week!
