Xiaomi Launches Mi 4i in India for Just $205

XiaomiMi4iXiaomi has been busting out devices in India for a good year now, and consumers have been welcoming the company with open arms. The Xiaomi Mi 4i has been out for a little over a month, so it's time to fill in the blanks when it comes to reviews of its performance and features. Looking back a couple of generations, many were hoping the Mi 4, and now the upgraded Mi 4i, would live up to the loved features of the Mi 3. Luckily, some of the welcomed improvements include a larger battery, lighter build, and upgraded OS.

XiaomiMi4i1This mid-range device runs for $205, so you know right away it's a budget device. It's plastic body comes with a polycarbonate rear cover, and a soft matte,”grease free” (yes, it's been called that) finish. It's exterior includes the standard power/standby buttons, a dual SIM tray, 3.5mm audio jack, and a micro USB and data transfer port (First Post).

The Mi 4i weighs just 130 grams, comes with a thin 7.8mm bezel, and has a 5-inch Full HD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels and 441ppi. With the help of a Sunlight Display feature, using the device in the outdoors shouldn't be a problem. The Mi 4i comes with great visibility and good/sharp viewing angles just to enhance these scenarios. It comes with a 13MP camera, standard in most smartphones these days, with a two-tone flash, and intuitive camera app interface. Both the 13MP in the rear and 5MP in the front are said to be “the best camera when compared to other smartphones in its price band” (Business Today).

XiaomiMi4i2Even more important is performance. The Mi 4i comes with a 64-bit Qualcomm 1.7Ghz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 3,120 mAh battery, all while running Android Lollipop with MIUI 6. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11ac, GPS, Wi-Fi Direct, and USB on-the-go (First Post).

Nearly every single feature wrapped into this $205 body makes this device worth a go. The only thing you might miss out on is a the possibility of expandable storage via microSD. Considering 16GB isn't enough for many, that might pose a problem. But, if a nice display, camera, and apparent day and a half of battery life (according to The Next Web) are enough to keep you satisfied (and you're okay with cloud), the Mi 4i is available now (in India)
