E06 – Google Glass, Spidey-Sense Suit, and Mycestro: Red-Headed Geek Show

Hello Peoples! This week was so much fun! Google Glass, Google Store Update, Playstation 4 update, Awesome Minority Report-like gesture gadgets, and how you can have your own Spidey-Senses! Watch this video, you wont be able to help yourself from being intrigued!

First off, I wanted to tell you about my favorite gadgets I have seen in a while. The MYO armband, is a gesture-based gadget that grips your forearm and uses the electrical activity in your muscles to control devices like your computer, TV, remote control toys and more! The next gadget I love is called the Mycestro. Get it? Well you will! It is a finger mouse that allows you to move the cursor on your screen without using a mouse. To engage the cursor you touch your thumb, to click you tap your finger, and to scroll you slide your thumb along the device. Not for everybody, but a nice option for those who are sick of gripping the hand held version all day long.

Next is Google news. Who is surprised? They are doing something new every second it seems. This week we heard about Google opening their own stores for potential customers to touch, see and use products prior to making a purchase. Sounded like a good idea but it didn't pass. The head of Android flat out denied this need, as well as the rumor being true. No Google stores for us. Not now, anyway.

In other Google news, the Google Glass project is closer than you think. Three years ago it began and its going to hit the shelves this year. The Google Glass is similar to wearing your smart phone on your head, like a regular pair of glasses! All you do is say the words “Ok Glass” and then you can command it to call, photograph, film or ask questions and it will respond in a heartbeat.

Ok Spiderman fans, what if you could wear a Spiderman suit that actually made you feel like Spidey? Interestingly enough, a computer science grad from Chicago built a suit called Spidersense. What does it do? It lets you feel the proximity to nearby objects with it's small robotic arms encased in microphone read modules attached to your body. The ultrasound reflection sensed by the microphone detects movement towards you, and the robotic arms respond by putting pressure on the part of your body the threat is approaching. Unbelievable!

Finally and quickly, despite the feared rumor of the new PlayStation4 blocking the use of second-hand games is not going to happen. I'm so happy about this and I bet you are too! Have a fantastic week! Watch next week and hopefully I will blow your mind again!
