Verizon Debuts Their Ellipsis 7, the Latest in Affordable 7-Inch Tablets

ellipsis-7Verizon Wireless unveiled the first in their new line of tablets this week, the Ellipsis 7 - a 7-inch tablet designed for affordability and functionality.  The Android-based tablet seems geared to compete in the same market as other small affordable tablets like the Kindle Fire HDX and the Nexus 7.  Weighing in at less than one pound, the compact tablet will be available online and in stores starting tomorrow, November 7th.

The Ellipsis 7, which Verizon stated is the “first product from Verizon Wireless in the Ellipsis family”, will feature 4G LTE connectivity and mobile hot spot support for up to eight Wi-Fi devices.   It has also been released that the tablet will run a near-stock version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and offers its user a 7-inch HD in-plane switching (IPS) display.  Internal specs include a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of expandable storage, a 3.2-megapixel rear camera as well as a basic front-facing shooter and even has an SD card slot for additional storage.

ellipsis-7-1Verizon Wireless is listing the cost of the Ellipsis 7 at $249.99 off-contract, placing it at just a little pricier than the Nexus 7, which retails for $229 directly from Google. However, the company has also announced a limited-time deal that gives customers $100 off any tablet, including the Ellipsis 7, when they purchase the device in conjunction with a new two-year contract. Other perks to the Ellipsis 7 are that it will come stock with access to Redbox Instant streaming-video service and Verizon Messages. Aside from that, we won’t know much more until the handy little pocketbook-friendly tablets hit stores today (11-07-2013).
