Hp Debuts the Spectre x360 15-Inch, Refreshed with AMD’s RX Vega M

The rise of the hybrid PC is all about convenience, multi-functionality, and well, it’s not just the future anymore, it’s about the present. Not only that, but these new laptop/hybrids are innovative, suitable for the creative, and constantly becoming more and more resilient to the growing needs and expectations of consumers. Hence, every big name out there is coming out with their own new formation of a convertible, hybrid, or ultra-thin notebook. Soon enough, competition is going to be tighter than ever, as new chipsets are entering the market, competing with the current, and now previously considered top dog, known as Intel.

So what is next? HP, which announced a new convertible at CES 2018, says it's refreshed Spectre x360 15 is one of the most powerful convertibles you can buy “in the future”. I guess this is supposed to mean that it’s a futuristic machine? Either way, this particular Spectre x360, a 15-incher as its predecessor was, features updated internal hardware, putting it into entirely new category of powerful. Featuring a 15.6 inch 4K LCD screen with touch, this is a convertible made for professionals of all sorts.

Doubling down on hardcore performance, the Spectre x360 15-inch model contains 8th generation Intel Core chips, while paired with Nvidia’s MX150 graphics. But that’s not the only option for the users who crave the fast and the furious. HP also opts for Intel’s brand new Core 8th-gen processor. The Intel Core i7-8705G, which is the Kaby Lake G’s new supplement, is clocked at 3.10 GHz/4.1GHz turbo; that, along with Radeon RX Vega M Graphics to up-the-ante to the fullest. This GPU puts out some serious hard work, including a base frequency of 931 MHz, a max dynamic frequency of 1011 MHz, 4K support, and insane resolution contingency. These two, the CPU processor and graphics card, pull out more speed than the Nvidia MX150 on its own.

All of these stats, and what does it mean? It means the inside of the Spectre x360 15-inch is quite honorable, in the sense that it will undoubtedly perform in good health. The design itself, built from a block of machined aluminum, is similar in physique to Dell's XPS 13 9365, as well as the latest XPS 15 2-in-1, announced recently. HP, of course followed suit by using this palpable ingredient, to not only create a beautiful design with a slightly edgier style, but for a sturdy double barrel hinge. The hinge allows for a 360-degree rotation, especially nice for flipping the device completely around to use as a tablet. The keyboard itself, offers 1.5mm of travel, a popular feature for those who appreciate a longer key travel. There is a fingerprint reader on the right side of the machine, and a full-sized number pad on the keyboard, both of which are new additions to the previous Spectre x360 15 model.

If looking at its predecessor and now this brand new model, externally, consumers might not be too affected by its change until knowing all about the hardware. Connections include two Thunderbolt ports for external 4K displays, high-speed data transfer, 4GB of HMB2 onboard VRAM, and an upgraded 13.5 hours of battery life, recharging up to 50% in just 30 minutes (whilst powered down). With the contentment the newest Spectre x360 brings, consumers from professional to creative will find joy in only needing one device for both their high-performance laptop needs, and the ease of use with the tablet mode and stylus. As one of the first laptops to feature Intels AMD chips, which is all that has been spoken about since CES, these rigs should run two to three times faster using these new CPU processors. Sources are showing the HP Spectre x360 15 refresh will start at $1,370 this March.
