Installation and Removal Instructions
Inspiron 14-5425 Motherboard
Step 1
- Before you begin: If you need help at any point, you can always contact Parts-People Repair Department for help with your diagnosis or repair.


Step 2
- TOOLS FOR THIS REPAIR: Phillips #0 and a Plastic Scribe.
- Unscrew the Bottom Base Cover (7 x M2 x 4mm) (2 X captive screws).
- Pry apart and remove the Bottom Base Cover.


Step 3
- Disconnect the Battery Cable.


Step 5
- Separate the clips to unlock the RAM/Memory from DIMM slot 1.
- Slide out the RAM/Memory from DIMM slot 1.


Step 6
- Separate the clips to unlock the RAM/Memory from DIMM slot 2.
- Slide out the RAM/Memory from DIMM slot 2.


Step 7
- IF YOUR LAPTOP HAS A 2230 SSD: Unscrew and slide out the SSD assembly.
- Unscrew and remove the M.2 NVMe 2230 SSD (1 x 2mm x 1.8mm).


Step 8
- IF YOUR LAPTOP HAS A 2280 SSD: Unscrew and slide out the M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD (1 x M2 x 3mm) (1 x M2 x 3mm).


Step 9
- Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 x M2 x 3mm).
- Disconnect the antenna cables.
- Slide out the WiFi Card.


Step 10
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the keyboard cable.


Step 11
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the backlight keyboard cable.


Step 12
- Unclip the locking tab and disconnect the touchpad cable.


Step 13
- Disconnect the speaker cable.


Step 14
- Disconnect the Cooling Fan cable.


Step 15
- Disconnect the DC Jack cable.


Step 16
- Pell back the adhesive covering the lcd cable.
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the LCD cable.


Step 18
- Unscrew and remove the motherboard with the heatsink still attached (2 X 2mm x 1.8mm wafer) (2 x M2 x 4mm).


Step 19
- Unscrew and remove the heatsink (4 X captive screws).


Step 20
- BEFORE REPLACING THE HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink.


Step 21
- Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the CPU.
- ***FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL STEPS IN REVERSE TO REASSEMBLE YOUR LAPTOP.
