Installation and Removal Instructions

Step 1

Lift the Mylar to access the memory module on the DIMM #1 slot.

Step 7

  • Lift the Mylar to access the memory module on the DIMM #1 slot.
  • Pull the securing clips from both sides of the memory module until the RAM pops-up.
  • Slide out the RAM/Memory.

Step 8

  • Lift the Mylar to access the memory module on the DIMM #2 slot.
  • Pull the securing clips from both sides of the memory module until the RAM pops-up.
  • Slide out the RAM/Memory.

IF YOUR MODEL IS CONFIGURED WITH A 2230 SSD:

  • IF YOUR MODEL IS CONFIGURED WITH A 2230 SSD:
  • Unscrew and remove the 2230 SSD from SSD slot 1 or SSD slot 2 (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 10

  • IF YOUR MODEL IS CONFIGURED WITH A 2280 SSD:
  • Unscrew and remove the 2280 SSD from SSD slot 1 (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 x M2 x 4mm).

Step 11

  • Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 x M2 x 4mm).

Disconnect the antenna cables.

Step 12

Disconnect the antenna cables.Slide out the Wireless/WiFi Card.
Disconnect the Cooling Fan cable.

Disconnect the Cooling Fan cable.Unscrew and remove the Cooling Fan (2 x Disconnect the Cooling Fan cable.
Unscrew and then lift the Right LCD Hinge (3 x M2.5 x 4mm).

Step 14

  • Unscrew and then lift the Right LCD Hinge (3 x M2.5 x 4mm).

Peel back the adhesive covering the DC jack cable connector.

Step 15

  • Peel back the adhesive covering the DC jack cable connector.
  • Disconnect the DC Jack.

Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the keyboard cables.

Step 16

  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the keyboard cables.

Step 17

  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cables.

Disconnect the speaker cable.

Step 18

  • Disconnect the speaker cable.
Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the I/O Board cable.

Step 19

  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the I/O Board cable.

Peel back the adhesive covering the LCD cable connector.

Step 20

  • Peel back the adhesive covering the LCD cable connector.
  • Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the LCD cable.

Unscrew and remove the Heatsink (4 X captive screws).

Step 21

  • Unscrew and remove the Heatsink (4 X captive screws).

Remove the Motherboard.

Step 22

  • Remove the Motherboard.
BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the processors and heatsink.

Step 23

  • BEFORE REPLACING HEATSINK: Wipe away any old thermal paste from the processors and heatsink.
  • ***NOTE: Make sure to not touch the heat transfer areas on the heatsink and processors. The oils on your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal paste.

Apply a small amount of new thermal paste to the processors.

Step 24
