Installation and Removal Instructions
Inspiron 15 (5510) Palmrest Keyboard Assembly
Step 2
- CAUTION: Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) is the build up of static electricity on a person's body. This can cause serious damage to your laptop. You can use an ESD wrist strap or an ESD mat to help prevent this.
Step 7
- IF YOUR MODEL IS CONFIGURED WITH A 2230 SSD:
- Unscrew and remove the 2230 SSD from SSD slot 1 or SSD slot 2 (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Step 8
- IF YOUR MODEL IS CONFIGURED WITH A 2280 SSD:
- Unscrew and remove the 2280 SSD from SSD slot 1 (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Step 9
- Unscrew and remove the WiFi bracket (1 x M2 x 4mm).
Step 12
- Disconnect and remove the CMOS Battery.
Step 13
- Unscrew and then lift the Left LCD Hinge (3 x M2.5 x 4mm).
Step 14
- Unscrew and then lift the Right LCD Hinge (3 x M2.5 x 4mm).
Step 15
- Peel back the adhesive cover.
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the I/O board cable.
Step 17
- Unscrew and remove the Power Button (1 x M2 x 3mm).
Step 18
- Peel back the adhesive covering the DC jack cable connector.
- Disconnect the DC Jack.
Step 20
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the keyboard cables.
Step 21
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cables.
Step 22
- Disconnect the speaker cable.
Step 24
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the I/O Board cable.
Step 25
- Peel back the adhesive covering the LCD cable connector.
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the LCD cable.
Step 27
- Unclip the locking tab and then disconnect the touchpad cable.
Step 28
- Unscrew and remove the Touchpad (2 X 2mm x 1.8mm wafer) (3 X 1.6mm x 2mm).
Step 29
- Remove the Motherboard.
- Note: the heatsink does not have to be detached from the motherboard.
