Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell Precision M2400 USB Audio Circuit Board

Slide the battery latches over and slide the Battery up.

Step 1

  • Slide the battery latches over and slide the Battery up.
Remove the hard drive screws (2 x M3 x 3mm).

Step 2

  • Remove the hard drive screws (2 x M3 x 3mm).
  • Slide the hard drive out of the laptop.
Remove the hard drive screws (2 x M3 x 3mm).Slide the hard drive out of the laptop.
Unscrew the optical drive locking screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 3

  • Unscrew the optical drive locking screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Press in the optical drive latch to get it to eject.
  • Pull the optical drive latch to slide the DVD Optical Drive out of the laptop.
Unscrew the optical drive locking screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).Press in the optical drive latch to get it to eject. Pull the optical drive latch to slide the DVD Optical Drive out of the laptop.
Loosen the Access Door cover screw.

Step 4

  • Loosen the Access Door cover screw.
  • Slide the door down and lift it off of the laptop.

Separate the clips on the left and right side of the memory stick until the memory pivots up to a 45 degree angle.

Step 5

  • Separate the clips on the left and right side of the memory stick until the memory pivots up to a 45 degree angle.
  • Slide the Memory out of the memory slot.
Disconnect the WWAN antenna cables.

Step 6

  • Disconnect the WWAN antenna cables.
  • Remove the WWAN card screw (2 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the WWAN Card from the motherboard.
Disconnect the WWAN antenna cables.Remove the WWAN card screw (2 x M2 x 3mm).Remove the WWAN Card from the motherboard.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables.

Step 7

  • Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables.
  • Remove the WLAN card screw (2 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the WLAN Card from the motherboard.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables.Remove the WLAN card screw (2 x M2 x 3mm).Remove the WLAN Card from the motherboard.
Unplug the fan.

Step 8

  • Unplug the fan.
  • Loosen the 4 heat sink screws.
  • Remove Heatsink.
Unplug the fan. Loosen the 4 heat sink screws.
Using a flat head screw driver, turn the CPU locking screw counterclockwise to unlock the CPU.

Step 9

  • Using a flat head screw driver, turn the CPU locking screw counterclockwise to unlock the CPU.
Under the battery, loosen the 3 clips by sliding them to the left.

Step 10

  • Under the battery, loosen the 3 clips by sliding them to the left.
Unscrew left and right hinge covers (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 11

  • Unscrew left and right hinge covers (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Slide the Hinge Covers up and lift them off of the laptop base.
Unscrew left and right hinge covers (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).Slide the Hinge Covers up and lift them off of the laptop base.
Disconnect the WPAN antenna cables.

Step 12

  • Disconnect the WPAN antenna cables.
  • Unscrew WPAN card (2 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Remove the WPAN Card from the motherboard.
Disconnect the WPAN antenna cables. Unscrew WPAN card (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Loosen the antenna cables and disconnect the LCD Cable.

Step 13

  • Loosen the antenna cables and disconnect the LCD Cable.
  • Remove hinge screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Turn the laptop over, open the LCD, and lift it off of the base.
Loosen the antenna cables and disconnect the LCD Cable. Remove hinge screws (2 x M2.5 x 5mm).
Unplug the DC jack cable.

Step 14

  • Unplug the DC jack cable.
Remove palm rest screws from the bottom of the laptop (7 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 15

  • Remove palm rest screws from the bottom of the laptop (7 x M2.5 x 5mm).
Turn the laptop over and open it up.

Step 16

  • Turn the laptop over and open it up.
  • Lift under the LED cover to remove it from the laptop.
Remove the screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 17

  • Remove the screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Using the tab at the top of the keyboard, slide the keyboard up and lift the Keyboard away from the laptop.
Remove the screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).Using the tab at the top of the keyboard, slide the keyboard up and lift the Keyboard away from the laptop.
Disconnect the 4 palmrest cables.

Step 18

  • Disconnect the 4 palmrest cables.
Unscrew the palm rest screws on the top of the laptop (4 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 19

  • Unscrew the palm rest screws on the top of the laptop (4 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Lift the palmrest off of the laptop base.
Remove the modem screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).

Step 20

  • Remove the modem screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).
  • Lift the modem off of the motherboard.
  • Unplug the modem cable.
Remove the modem screw (1 x M2 x 3mm).Lift the modem off of the motherboard.
Remove the filler card.

Step 21

  • Remove the filler card.
  • Remove the screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).
Remove the filler card. Remove the screws (2 x M2 x 3mm).
To remove the cage you will have to press down on the center of the cage and lift the back edge at the same time.

Step 22

  • To remove the cage you will have to press down on the center of the cage and lift the back edge at the same time.
Unplug the 1394 cable.

Step 23

  • Unplug the 1394 cable.
  • Remove the protective tape.
Unplug the 1394 cable. Remove the protective tape.
Unplug the smart card cable.

Step 24

  • Unplug the smart card cable.
Remove the motherboard screws (3 x M2.5 x 5mm).

Step 25

  • Remove the motherboard screws (3 x M2.5 x 5mm).
  • Carefully lift the Motherboard out of the base, starting at the back. The USB/NIC circuit board will disconnect from the motherboard and stay in the base assembly.
Remove the USB Audio Circuit Board from the base.
