Mercedes-Benz Goes All out With a Special Edition VAIO Z Laptop, Featuring Car Engine Noises

Mercedes-Benz, yes that’s most definitely a car company, a car company so utterly luxurious most new models need no key to boot up, or a phone to pull out in order to utilize any navigation tools or web. These are the vehicles that, by default, have an accessory built in for any media-related need. What would you consider next for a Mercedes-Benz vehicle? If you can’t think of anything, good, because what’s next for the car lovers brand is totally not inside or outside of a vehicle. In fact, Vaio, the Japanese PC manufacturer, has come up with a Mercedes-Benz special edition Vaio Z Windows 10 2-in-1 laptop.

When I say car lovers, this is a complete laptop made for car lovers. It not only has a picture of a car on the lid, a Mercedes logo on the trackpad, and hidden logos in other areas, but makes car noises itself. The “boot up” sound is literally a “vroom vroom” sample. Other than the Mercedes obsession goin’ on here, when taking a look at the computer, it’s pretty much the same convertible released in the USA and Japan over a year ago, the Vaio Z Flip. This means you’ll find the same specs and price, all high-end of course, yet there are two physical interpretations of the car company’s laptop to choose from- including either the Vision Tokyo concept car, or the classic Mercedes 300SL.

Now, we've seen car companies do their very own special edition computers before, for example, not only Mercedes, but Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Porsche are all part of the club. So is it basically a way to make an already fine laptop more expensive? Is the whole slapping a logo and brand name onto the hood, or near the touchpad going to catch on among other vendors, like the infamous Hello Kitty brand for example? I mean, you do know you could just slap a Hello Kitty sticker onto the the hood, yes? Well, as far as the Vaio Mercedes-Benz Collection laptop, expensive is its middle name considering there’s Intel’s latest inside; and for the Core i7 model, expect to pay what the Vaio Z Flip was all about, but with an inflated price tag of $2,239. The rest of the specs include a 13.3-inch, 2560 x 1440 touchscreen display, a hinge that works by allowing the screen to flip back, facing away from the laptop keyboard, and 256GB of storage. Believe it or not, that’s pretty much it. I mean, if there’s anything else needed to know, check out its exact twin, the Z Flip, for the rest of the hardware specs. Eye candy is obviously what Mercedes had in mind here.
