Razer’s New Blade pro Gaming Machine Is Pretty Much a Desktop in the Form of a Laptop

A few things are for certain, we love Razer, we love the gaming machines it makes, especially when it’s formidably able to put desktop specs inside laptop form. We will probably love the new 17-inch Razer Blade Pro gaming laptop for all of the above reasons, especially considering the desktop-worthy machine is bigger than ever, and with a low-power consumption graphics chip is inside this thing.

You see, the Blade family of laptops has dubbed Razer’s Blade Pro the black sheep of the family for quite some time, mainly because the company put out a 14-inch variant, the Razer Blade Stealth, which ended up being far more superior and popular. But now, Razer is calling this “the most powerful system it has ever built”, and you might end up believing it.

It’s pretty insane this thing weighs less than what you’d think it would. It’s even more insane that it measures just .88-inch thick, which is why it is able to weigh just 7.8 pounds. This is “deceptively” thin and light, considering all of the gear packed inside. Speaking of, the 2016 Razer Blade Pro comes packed with Intel’s Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor, clocked at 2.6GHz, and maxing at 3.5GHz. Storage for the Windows 10-running machine includes 512GB of SSD Raid 0, a 1TB SSD Raid 0, or a 2TB SSD Raid 0. Have fun with all that extra storage, there’s no need for a standard disc drive here.

That Nvidia GTX 1080 also means more overall efficiency, due to that 16 nanometer manufacturing process, which reduces tremendous amount of energy consumption. Graphics and processing limits are hitting high, and that means that the machine needs to stay healthy with three circulating fans (located above the GPU), pushing air in and out of the machine. Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-C, 3 USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI 2.0, an SD card reader, Ethernet Jack, headphone jack, and a Killer Doubleshot Pro networking connection for pushing gaming traffic to priority over other types of traffic.

Reviews keep saying the same thing- this is a laptop that could rightfully equal, or even surpass, the proficiencies of gaming desktop. It’s great to say all of that power is also efficient thanks to those three fans, which take up a huge amount of the housing if you were to open this guy up, by the way. It is apparent that multiple engineering feats are to thank for a super high-end gaming notebook such as this. This is something not discussed nearly enough. It’s not always about the CPU or GPU, or both, but the entirety of the machine’s aptitude; just how well thought out its manufacturing design was. In the case of the Razer Blade Pro 2016, all of the above equals potential, qualification, skill, and effectiveness. The laptop is ready to be yours at around $3,700 (no surprises here, this is a powerhouse machine and configuring your ideal model alters the price drastically), and while everything else seems next to perfect, battery life has been intentionally left out due Razer’s incomplete battery testing series.
