VAIO’s C15 Color-Comboed Laptops- Are They Fashionable and Not Much Else?

VaioC15ColorLaptop1VAIO, if it doesn’t immediately ring a bell it’s because it’s hard to remember, “Oh yeah, it’s that company Sony used to own, but sold off”. No judgement here, I myself been wondering what the company has been up to, at least since I wrote about its $1,800 Z Flip convertible laptop back in February. VAIO certainly hasn’t gone anywhere, and what the company has produced since its 2014 independance from Sony may be a smaller number of products, but all self-acclaimed as meticulously and creatively devised. Including several high-end laptops and 2-in-1 convertibles, as well as a budget-friendly notebook, VAIO definitely hasn’t “overdone it” on the production front. Adding to its lineup of sleek and lovely laptops is a different sort of laptop option. The new C15s, quite different from anything you've seen VAIO produce, are colorful and fun (a huge selling point). Additionally, compared to the rest of its line, this is the first ‘standard laptop’ the brand has made since its independence. This is of course ironic to say considering the colorful frenzy the company decided to go for.

VaioC15ColorLaptopWho is going to love VAIO’s new laptops? Well, despite what trendy colors might mean to you, if you notice, these particular statement-making color combos include Yellow/Black, White/Copper, Navy/Gray, and Orange/Khaki. So no, this is not the typical college student, grab-your-attention type of marketing VAIO is going for. This is a 15.5-inch laptop aimed at the professional market. It’s base model is powered by an Intel Celeron 3215U processor, and 4GB of RAM, while its higher-end option offers an Intel Core i3-5005U, and 8GB of RAM. Display options include both 1,366 x 768 pixels, as well as a full HD 1080p display option.

VaioC15ColorLaptop2Hmm, that’s pretty moderate display and hardware specs to warrant a price tag of about $631, only to rise in price once standard stores begin selling the laptops. By then, prices are expected to be around $910. The higher-end, HD model I mentioned is expected to be in the more ridiculous price range (we’re expecting prices on this model to be released soon). Are consumers really paying for a couple color combinations here? Business consumers will be, at least this is what VAIO hopes. To its credit, let’s take a second to remember who loves looking sleek and professional, more than an actual professional? The VAIO C15s will definitely allow this group to dress the part, and if you’re one of the folks that’s willing to pay for low specs, bright colors, and at a high price, go right on ahead.
