E84- Dexmo, Google’s Cancer Pill, Microsoft Band, E-Bike | Red Headed Geek Show




The world is making a big deal about Microsoft’s new smart band. It does a lot of the same things other smart bands do- it shows you your texts, calls, and email notifications, uses GPS, has twitter and facebook integrated into it. It’s compatible with all three major platforms, including Apple, Google and Samsung. It also has extra sensors that other wearables don't.

A Toronto based company has created something called the Daymak Drive System- an E-bike conversion kit that is powered by solar energy. This means you can convert your existing bicycle into a solar E-bike. The main component of this is a wheel that has been equipped with a 36-volt lithium-polymer battery and a 250 watt motor. Basically, if the bike is out in the sun, it stores continuous electricity for the battery.

Virtual reality, isn’t about just seeing and hearing your virtual environment anymore! This new robotic hand glove thing, called Dexmo, was made by a group of roboticists so we can start feeling the virtual realm. Two versions exist. The Classic gives you “11 degrees of hand motion – three degrees of movement for the thumb, and split and bend for the four fingers”, and the F2 provides force feedback; giving your fingers resistance that lets you feel like your’e holding an object in a game or environment

Google is currently working to develop a pill that you could pop to detect cancer. Part of Google's Health Initiative Project, this pill would send tiny magnetic particles through a patient's bloodstream in order to detect cancer and diseases.
