  • 1 x small plastic scribe

Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z) Heatsink

Remove the battery.

Step 1

  • Slide the latches over.
  • Remove the battery.

  • Loosen the access door screw.
  • Remove the access door.

Separate the clips and remove the memory.

Step 3

  • Separate the clips and remove the memory.
Slide the hard drive to the right.

Step 4

  • Remove the hard drive screws.
  • Slide the hard drive to the right.
Slide the hard drive to the right.
Lift and remove the hard drive from the laptop.

Step 5

  • Lift and remove the hard drive from the laptop.

Slide the optical drive out of the laptop.

Step 6

  • Remove the optical drive screw.
  • Slide the optical drive out of the laptop.

Remove the bottom palmrest screws.

Step 7

  • Remove the bottom palmrest screws.
Remove the bottom middle cover screws.

Step 8

  • Remove the bottom display hinge screws.
  • Remove the bottom middle cover screws.

Loosen the wireless antenna cables.

Step 9

  • Remove the audio circuit board cable.
  • Loosen the wireless antenna cables.
  • Remove the WLAN card screw and WLAN card.

Separate the clips and remove the memory.

Step 10

  • Separate the clips and remove the memory.
Remove the top palmrest screws.

Step 11

  • Remove the top palmrest screws.
List and unsnap the palmrest from the laptop.

Step 12

  • Unplug the palmrest cables.
  • List and unsnap the palmrest from the laptop.
List and unsnap the palmrest from the laptop.Unplug the palmrest cables.
Remove the screw.

Step 13

  • Unplug the fan cable.
  • Remove the screw.
  • Remove the fan.

Loosen the wireless antenna cables.

Step 14

  • Remove the audio circuit board cable.
  • Loosen the wireless antenna cables.

Unplug the camera cable.

Step 15

  • Unplug the display cable.
  • Unplug the camera cable.
  • Loosen the cables from the base.

Remove the display assembly.

Step 16

  • Remove the hinge screws.
  • Remove the display assembly.
Remove the middle cover.

Step 17

  • Remove the middle cover.
Remove the screw.

Step 18

  • Unplug the DC jack.
  • Remove the screw.
  • Remove the DC jack.
Remove the screw.Remove the DC jack.Unplug the DC jack.
Remove the SD card reader cable.

Step 19

  • Remove the SD card reader cable.
Remove the SD card reader cable.Remove the SD card reader cable.
Unplug the speaker cable.

Step 20

  • Unplug the speaker cable.
Remove the motherboard.

Step 21

  • Remove the motherboard screws.
  • Remove the motherboard.
Remove the motherboard.Remove the motherboard screws.
Loosen the heatshink screws.

Step 22

  • Turn the motherboard over.
  • Loosen the heatshink screws.
  • Remove the heatsink.
Loosen the heatshink screws.Remove the heatsink.
Installation note 2: Tighten the heatsink screws in the order listed on the heatsink.

Step 23

  • Installation note 1: Make sure to replace thermal compound or thermal pads on the CPU and heatsink.
  • Installation note 2: Tighten the heatsink screws in the order listed on the heatsink.
The remaining piece is the motherboard.

Step 24

  • The remaining piece is the motherboard.
