Dell Inspiron 6400 E1505 LCD Back Assembly Removal and Installation

Installation and Removal Instructions
Dell Inspiron 6400 / E1505 LCD Back Assembly

On the bottom of the laptop, slide the battery latch to the right and lift the battery out.

Step 1

  • On the bottom of the laptop, slide the battery latch to the right and lift the battery out.
On the back of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm Hinge screws.

Step 2

  • On the bottom of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm hinge screws.
  • On the back of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm Hinge screws.
On the back of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm Hinge screws. On the bottom of the laptop remove the (2) 2.5mm x 8mm hinge screws.
On the right side of the power button, place a flat head screw driver into the slot and carefully pry up the power button cover.

Step 3

  • Open the laptop display as far as possible.
  • On the right side of the power button, place a flat head screw driver into the slot and carefully pry up the power button cover.
Carefully lift the keyboard up and place it onto the LCD screen to reveal the keyboard cable connection.

Step 4

  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws.
  • Carefully lift the keyboard up and place it onto the LCD screen to reveal the keyboard cable connection.
Pivot the keyboard cable latch up and remove the cable.

Step 5

  • Pivot the keyboard cable latch up and remove the cable.
Unplug the wireless antenna cables.

Step 6

  • Unplug the wireless antenna cables.
Unplug the LCD cable.

Step 7

  • Loosen the LCD cable ground screw.
  • Unplug the LCD cable.
Unplug the LCD cable. Loosen the LCD cable ground screw.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws.

Step 8

  • Loosen the LCD cable and antenna wires from the routing channels.
  • Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws.
  • Lift the display assembly from the laptop base.
Remove the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm hinge screws. Lift the display assembly from the laptop base.
Remove the (6) 2.5mm x 4.5mm x 1.5mm screws.

Step 9

  • Remove the 6 rubber screw covers.
  • Remove the (6) 2.5mm x 4.5mm x 1.5mm screws.
  • Starting at the bottom, unsnap the bezel, working your way around the edge of the screen.
Remove the (6) 2.5mm x 4.5mm x 1.5mm screws. Starting at the bottom, unsnap the bezel, working your way around the edge of the screen. Remove the 6 rubber screw covers.
Remove the (4) 2mm x 3mm display screws on the left edge of the screen.

Step 10

  • Remove the (4) 2mm x 3mm display screws on the right edge of the screen.
  • Remove the (4) 2mm x 3mm display screws on the left edge of the screen.
  • Lift the screen out of the back assembly.
Remove the (4) 2mm x 3mm display screws on the left edge of the screen. Lift the screen out of the back assembly.
