Installation and Removal Instructions
Latitude E6400 LCD Inverter

Slide the battery latches over and slide the battery up.

Step 1

  • Slide the battery latches over and slide the battery up.
**Tech note: The E6400 has multiple screen types and configurations(CCFL, LED, with and without camera, Electronic Privacy View [EPV], and different resolutions for the screens). Before purchasing LCD back assemblies, LCD bezels, LCD Cables, and LCD screens you should confirm the part numbers.

Step 2

  • Carefully remove the bezel by unsnapping it around the edge of the screen. Go slowly, they can be difficult to remove.
  • **Tech note: The E6400 has multiple screen types and configurations(CCFL, LED, with and without camera, Electronic Privacy View [EPV], and different resolutions for the screens). Before purchasing LCD back assemblies, LCD bezels, LCD Cables, and LCD screens you should confirm the part numbers.
Lift the LCD screen away from the bask assembly and lay it face down.

Step 3

  • Remove the (4) 2.5mm x 5mm LCD screen screws.
  • Lift the LCD screen away from the bask assembly and lay it face down.
Unplug the LCD inverter or converter.

Step 4

  • Disconnect the LCD ribbon cable.
  • Unplug the LCD inverter or converter.
Unplug the LCD inverter or converter.Disconnect the LCD ribbon cable.
Disconnect the LCD inverter cable.

Step 5

  • Disconnect the LCD inverter cable.
Remove the inverter from the LCD back assembly.

Step 6

  • Unscrew the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm inverter screws.
  • Remove the inverter from the LCD back assembly.

  1. All went well until I tried to detach the ribbon cable from the inverter. Mine looks different that that shown; it is attached behind the inverter and has a narrow ribbon “handle” like a basket handle on it. But it son’t budge. Any suggestions?

      It sounds like you have an LED backlit screen. If that is the case, then you will have a converter not an inverter. A flat ribbon cable will go into the converter and you will have to pivot a latch up on the connector in order to unplug it.

    Nothing works for me, first why I have to remove the battery? I didn’t see no inverter when I removed the battery? What is a Bezel? Totally lost??????????
