On the left side on the 1537 my hinge broke, also taking some of the lid. Suddenly, a black wire is frayed and not attached to anything. I have asked for different shops where this wire goes on the laptop, they have no idea. Please explain. at the bottom of the 1537 lid/cover, there is a black wire that runs alone by itself to the left hinge. what does it attach to. Illustration is not close enough for people to follow the wires under the lid/cover

    • On the left hinge, the LCD and Camera cable will be one set of wires and the wireless antenna cables will be the other set. If it is a single small solid black wire that’s broken, it will go to the WLAN card located on the bottom of the laptop. It will travel under the Media cover and Keyboard, through the Motherboard to the bottom of the laptop, and connect to the WLAN card. On the LCD cover side, The wire will travel along the edge of the lid and connect to an antenna receiver.

On the plus side, If you are replacing the LCD back lid because the hinge has broken off, the new LCD back cover assembly should come with new antenna cables attached. Here are the Back Cover assemblies we have available. http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=category&id=148&subid=241&refine=lcd+back+cover I hope this helps.
