Step 4
- Power Button Cover
- Remove two 2mm x 3mm screws that hold the 1545 center control power button cover to the base of the computer.

Step 5
- Turn the computer over (as if you were typing on it), and fully open the display (approximately 180 degrees, or as far as possible).
- Lift and unsnap the 1545 center control power button cover using a small flat head screw driver or a plastic scribe from the backside of the computer, from right to left. **Be very careful removing it because the plastic can be fragile.

Step 6
- Keyboard
- Unscrew the (2) 2.5mm x 5mm screws above the keyboard and gently lift up the keyboard to reveal the ribbon cable. Be careful lifting the keyboard because it is very easy to cause damage to the ribbon cable or the motherboard connector. (If the motherboard connector breaks, it is very hard to find replacements for them without replacing the entire motherboard.)

Step 7
- Lift the keyboard cable connector latch and remove the keyboard ribbon cable and keyboard.

Step 8
- Display Assembly
- Loosen the LCD display cable from motherboard the by pulling up on the tab.
- Loosen the camera cable from the motherboard.

Step 14
- Carefully lift up the edge of the bezel until it unsnaps and slowly work your way around the screen. (be very careful because there are sharp metal edges on the screen that can easily cut you)

Step 15
- Lift off the bezel. (In some case the bezel might be glued down to the LCD screen and may require extra force to pull off.)

Step 16
- Unscrew (1) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the right LCD rail to the base.
- Unscrew (1) 2.5mm x 5mm screws holding the left LCD rail to the base.

I replaced the LCD screen on my M5010,the laptop only beeps the screen doesn’t light up
What was the reason for replacing the screen? Was it doing this before? If not, I would suggest double checking all of the laptop connections. LCD cable, keyboard, re-seat the memory, ect.. Pretty much anything that was disconnected when you were replacing the screen. The problem will most likely be a loose connection.
I dropped heavy book on it,cracked the screen,it was stilling lighting up after accident but could n’t see anything so i connected laptop to tv and it worked for a few wks before loss of picture.I ordered new screen installed it and double checked the connections. The laptop is emitting an 8 beep code/display failure, does this mean I have a bad screen or the wrong one?Could re-seat the memory help. the set-up guide said check support.dell.com/manuals ,the manual said to check the set -up guide
The 8 beep code for display failure could mean the LCD screen, LCD cable, or the video chip on the motherboard could be bad. I would start with re-seating the LCD cable. If that doesn’t work, double check the compatibility of the replacement screen. The last option would be replacing the motherboard to make sure the video chip set is good.
I have a Inspiron 1545 but my display assembly does not seem to have an inverter. Could this be true?
The Inspiron 1545s came with multiple screen options including a CCFL style (that uses an inverter) and a LED style (doesn’t use an inverter). If you have the screen removed you can get the Dell part number off of the back to confirm the type you have. I would guess you have a WXGAHD LED similar to this, http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=9782 but you will have to cross reference you part number to be sure.
