Step#1
This should always be your first step when working on a laptop. Remove all power from the laptop. Make sure to unplug the laptop from the wall and remove the battery. It can be very dangerous, so please unplug all power sources.

Step#2
Place laptop on a secure flat surface like a desk. The only tool that you will need is a small philips head (+) and small flat head (-) screw driver. Tilt your laptop LCD screen back so the laptop is now in a flat line. |

Step#3
Remove the power button center control cover. To remove this, take your small flat head screw driver and insert it on the side of the cover snapping it up and off.
Note: Some models may require additional screws to be removed from the under side of the laptop. |

Step#4
Remove screws that hold the laptop keyboard on. There are usually between 2 - 4 of these screws. Unscrew these screws using the philips head screw driver. Remove them and set aside. |

Step#5
Removing laptop keyboard
To remove the Dell laptop keyboard use your hands only. Start on the top and lift up hinging the keyboard out as pictured. |

Step#6
Disconnecting and reconnecting keyboard
un-plug the keyboard's connector by pulling up on the tab provided. Remove old keyboard and reconnect new one. There are not any settings or software that needs to be changed or updated. It will be ready to go.
